- The 14th European Carabidologist Meeting in 2009 will be held in Westerbork Drenthe from the 14th till the 18th of September 2009 and organized by the Foundation WBBS. It willl be a celebration of 'long term monitoring and the use of pitfall traps: carabid beetles as bioindicators of environmental quality. There will of course also be enough time and space to discuss many other ecological, systematical and biogeographical topics. This meeting will mark the 50 year anniversary of long term research in the Dwingelderveld and the 40th anniversary of the first Carabidologist Meeting in Wijster, 1969. We will try to invite as many people as possible that were present at the first meeting but also from the other earlier meetings. A reprint of the proceedings of this first meeting will be considered, when enough interest appears to be. For the post-meeting we are thinking about a weekend trip to the Dutch Waddensea island Schiermonnikoog.
